To achieve good hot stamping results, it is first necessary to have appropriate gold foil with good thermal stability. Secondly, suitable hot stamping machines need to be used, such as flat press hot stamping machines and round press hot stamping machines, which have different effects. In any case, the hot stamping plate, gold foil, temperature, pressure, and hot stamping retention time are the key points in the production process.

Hot stamping templates, commonly known as hot stamping templates or electric engraving templates, mostly use zinc plates (with zinc as the plate material) and magnesium plates (with magnesium as the plate material). The following is a brief introduction to several types of plates:

Zinc plate, the most common and widely used hot stamping plate, with a fixed thickness and low production cost, suitable for hot stamping 1000-3000 sheets.

Magnesium plates come in various thicknesses, with thicker ones able to corrode deeper. They are used for hot stamping thick sheets of paper, cloth patterns, or three-dimensional hot stamping, and have better results. They are also more durable than zinc plates and do not need to be replaced when hot stamping large quantities of paper.

Copper alloy hot stamping version has stronger hardness than zinc and magnesium, better image level restoration, high clarity, and can achieve hot stamping quantities of up to 100000 or even hundreds of thousands of copies. The above plates made of zinc, magnesium, and copper alloys are suitable for single-layer hot stamping.

Brass plate, with a thickness of about 7mm, has low hardness and high engravability, suitable for hand carving and motor carving. It is regarded as a carving plate with clear layers and is a must-have for multi-layer and special oblique edge carving. It can be used for embossing/pressing concave, embossing, three-dimensional relief, and also for three-dimensional hot stamping (i.e. hot stamping+embossing/pressing concave). The manufacturing process of brass plate is more complicated, and the price is higher depending on the complex requirements of its graphics. The common algorithm in the market is priced per square centimeter.

The standard size of each roll of gold foil for domestic hot stamping is generally 64cm in width and 120m in length. There are many varieties of gold foil materials to match different hot stamping materials, and the price varies depending on imports, domestic production, or different uses, ranging from as low as 100 yuan to as high as thousands or thousands of yuan per roll. Undoubtedly, it is important to choose gold foil that is suitable for the printing material, meets the design requirements, and has good quality.

The temperature of the electric heating plate of the temperature flattening hot stamping machine is about 110 ℃, while the temperature of the electric heating plate of the circular pressing hot stamping machine is 140 ℃ -150 ℃. The temperature should not be too high, otherwise it will burn out the hot stamping paper and make the graphics and text unclear.

The intensity of pressure depends on the softness, hardness, and surface texture of the material. Loose or soft surface printing materials can be subjected to heavier pressure, while rough or hard materials can be subjected to lighter pressure. The flat press hot stamping machine is a synchronous hot stamping machine for the entire sheet, the starting point of the air duct machine is line pressing and then converted to flat pressing, and the rolling machine is similar to the line pressing of the Coriolis machine.

The residence time of hot stamping is based on the shortest and best printing effect. If the time is too long, the gold foil and the paper being hot stamped will be damaged, and the glitter foil will also become sub colored foil.

The main process of hot stamping technology is the production of printing plates and hot press transfer printing. By accurately grasping the production of printing plates, the process technology becomes more refined. Lijia Packaging, established in 1970, has been deeply involved in the packaging and printing industry for over 50 years. With a spirit of craftsmanship and exquisite printing techniques, it has achieved the status of one of Lijia’s top 100 corporate brands.
